and to anticipate and avoid potential on-site problems
Sectional Tanks
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE CUSTOMERS’ RESPONSIBILITY
(unless otherwise agreed in writing with the supplier)
  1. Off Loading: at the nearest point of hard standing – the “Delivery Point”.
  2. Receipt Signatures: a responsible employee or representative must be on hand to receive the goods, inspect them if so wished and sign for them.  Failing this, a signature from other site personnel will be considered equally binding unless specifically instructed otherwise when the delivery is arranged.
  3. Onsite Storage: to store the goods in a clean, safe, secure location, providing necessary product protection against loss or damage and by fully insuring the goods against loss or damage.  The Tank Supplier does not accept responsibility for lost or damaged goods following their delivery to site.
  4. Site Movement: to ensure the product or components are safely moved from the delivery point (via any storage point if there is a delay between delivery and installation) to the immediate vicinity of, but not on, the tank foundation.  In the event of this not being done and it being practical to do so, the installation team will move or assist in moving the components and their time will be charged as day-works at the current daily rates.  If packages are broken, or opened, the Customer will be responsible for the cost of replacing any damages or shortages.
  5. Foundation: the flat screed, concrete, steelwork or support walls, provided to support respective sectional tank types, shall be flat, level and free from any local irregularities and not vary more than 2mm in any metre or a total of 6mm in any 6 metres, measured laterally or diagonally.  The Customer is responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of the tank foundation / supports which must be capable of supporting the tank and its contents without movement.  If the erectors find the foundation unsuitable or incomplete the tank will not be erected.  The customer is responsible for any costs resulting from the base being found to be unsuitable, whether it is before or after installation.
  6. Site Induction: a maximum ONE-hour period is allowed for in the price for site induction.  Extension to this period will be charged at the Suppliers agreed man-hour rate.
  7. Working Space: shall be in accordance with Health and Safety legislation requirements and free from any debris.  A minimum 500mm clearance is required all around the tank for installation and maintenance.  For externally flanged tanks a minimum of 500mm clearance is required beneath the tank.  A minimum of 750mm is required above the roof of the tank for installation, access and maintenance.  Site delays or additional time taken due to cramped or restricted working conditions will be charged extra at the agreed man hour rate.  On handed over on completion of tank installation, the Customer is responsible for its protection against damage.
  8. Ancillary Equipment: for all pipework, valves, etc., independent support will be provided.  Float valves, float switches, immersion heaters etc. will be supplied on a supply only basis.  Our erectors will attach these items to the tank during installation for safekeeping; however final adjustment, any necessary wiring and commission of such equipment are the customer’s responsibility.  In the event that faults develop then our liability will be limited to the supply of replacement items or spare parts for fitting by others.
  9. Testing / Commissioning: of the tank is the Customer’s responsibility as it is seldom this can be carried out immediately on completion of erection.  Erectors will not stay on site or return to witness tests unless by special arrangement.  It is essential that the tank be filled and tested within 10 working days of complete assembly and for it to remain filled thereafter.  If the tank cannot be tested within this period Return Visit charges will be levied.  If Partitioned Tanks have compartments commissioned on separate occasions.  Return Visit charges will be levied on each visit.  Should the tank not be filled within the 10 day period or is drained down following the initial test, the manufacturer is prepared to return to site to inspect and at additional cost to the customer rectify the assembly as necessary prior to re-certifying the one year warranty from that date.
  10. Sterilisation: tanks should not be sterilised until they have been tested and proved to be watertight.  The provision of or payment of tank sterilisation is specifically excluded.
  11. Moving of Sectional Tanks: after installation, it is not advised and no responsibility is taken by the manufacturer should a tank be moved or repositioned.
  12. Insulation: secondary applied insulation, lagging or enclosure should not be installed until successful tank testing is concluded and any costs incurred in the removal and replacement of these will be the responsibility of the Customer.
  13. Scaffolding: where required, to be provided free issue by the Customer.
  14. Overflow Discharges in Sectional Tanks: The provision of Regulation compliant pipework capable of conducting any possible tank overflowing discharges safely and securely to suitable appropriate drainage facilities is the responsibility of the Customer.
